At Great Dunham we love reading and want to encourage the children to share their love of books and reading with each other.
Every Wednesday we have “Reading Buddies” time where the children work in pairs from across the school. They hear each other read, discuss the books they are reading and encourage each other to develop a love of reading.
Each week a pair is chosen to be our Reading Buddies of the Week, and they are celebrated in our Above and Beyond Assembly.
The whole school takes part in our reading buddies scheme to help the children:
- develop their reading and comprehension
- have a story read to them out load
- practice their own reading
- talk about their book and the pictures
